Never Missed AI

AI Receptionist

What it is

An AI receptionist is a voice agent that answers your business phone when you cannot. For a home-service contractor it picks up on the first ring at any hour, asks the same qualifying questions a good office manager would — what broke, where, how urgent — and either books the job onto your calendar or takes a message and texts it to you. It is not a voicemail box and it is not a phone tree.

You are under a sink, on a roof, or driving. The phone rings and goes to voicemail. The caller hangs up and dials the next company on the list, because someone with water coming through a ceiling is not waiting for a callback.

How it works

The mechanism, not the pitch

  1. Your number forwards on no-answer

Nothing about your published number changes. Calls ring your phone first; only the ones you do not pick up inside a few rings reach the agent. You keep answering the calls you want to answer.

  2. The agent answers in your company's name

It greets callers as your business, in a voice you pick, and works from a script built out of how you actually quote work — your trades, your service area, what you refuse to take on.

  3. It qualifies before it books

Job type, address, urgency, and whether it is inside your service area. A caller outside your radius gets told so politely rather than filling a slot you then have to cancel.

  4. It books, or it escalates

Real emergencies route to your cell immediately. Everything else lands on the calendar with the details attached, and you get a text with the summary before you have put your tools down.

Signs you need this

Check these against your own week

  • Your voicemail has messages you have not returned from more than a day ago.
  • You take calls from a ladder, and you know how those calls sound.
  • Your busiest hours for inbound calls are the hours you are least able to answer.
  • You have paid for leads — ads, directories, a lead marketplace — and then missed the calls those leads generated.
  • Callers tell you they tried you first and went with whoever answered.

When this is the wrong purchase

If you already have a full-time office manager who answers reliably, this is a cost with no job to do — hand it the after-hours overflow instead, or skip it. It is also the wrong fit if your work is almost entirely referral and repeat, where callers already know you and will leave a message. And if your phone rings fewer than a handful of times a week, fix your lead flow before you automate the answering of it.

Questions

About ai receptionist

Will callers know they are talking to AI?

Most will work it out, and the agent does not pretend otherwise if asked directly. What matters to a caller with a burst pipe is that someone picked up and booked them, not who. We write the greeting so it is upfront rather than uncanny.

What happens if the agent cannot answer a question?

It says so, takes the detail, and hands off — either transferring live to your cell for urgent work, or logging the question in the summary text so you can call back knowing what they asked.

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. Your existing number stays published everywhere. We set conditional forwarding so only unanswered calls reach the agent.

Bring your call log. We’ll tell you if this is the right fix.
